Buttered Apple Whisky

Ingredients

  • 3⁄4 cup whiskey
  • 2 cups of fresh apple cider
  • 1⁄2 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 cloves & 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise
  • 3 tablespoons of chilled unsealed butter
  • 2 1⁄2 table fresh lemon juice

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine apple cider, water, maple syrup, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise. Simmer gently, then remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare Butter Mixture: In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Remove from heat and stir in whiskey and lemon juice.
  3. Pour the butter-whiskey mixture into the saucepan with the cider and mix thoroughly
  4. Strain the mixture into a large pitcher to remove the spices.
  5. Divide the cider into 4 glasses or mugs. Top each with a small piece of butter, grate fresh nutmeg over each, and enjoy!
