Ingredients
- 3⁄4 cup whiskey
- 2 cups of fresh apple cider
- 1⁄2 cup of water
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 cloves & 2 Cinnamon sticks
- 1 star anise
- 3 tablespoons of chilled unsealed butter
- 2 1⁄2 table fresh lemon juice
Directions
- In a medium saucepan, combine apple cider, water, maple syrup, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise. Simmer gently, then remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 15 minutes.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Remove from heat and stir in whiskey and lemon juice.
- Pour the butter-whiskey mixture into the saucepan with the cider and mix thoroughly
- Strain the mixture into a large pitcher to remove the spices.
- Divide the cider into 4 glasses or mugs. Top each with a small piece of butter, grate fresh nutmeg over each, and enjoy!
